“Sitting out last year was tough because I felt so ready to race,” said Grant. “My laps, fitness and speed were all there until I crashed.”
Fully recovered from his earlier injury, Grant showed no signs of fatigue during the 2010 AMA Motocross season. However, with three races left, Grant crashed during a practice session, severely injuring his left shoulder. This injury sent him back to the sidelines for the remainder of the summer.
“My main goals this year are to put in good finishes, stay healthy and be consistent the whole series,” said Grant. “Once I get to that point, I know I can do well. I feel with the backing of my new team it will be a fun year.”
For 2011, Grant will be joining Trey Canard at American Honda under the direction of Team Manager Erik Kehoe. This will be Grant’s first time competing on a Honda CRF450; however, it will not be the first time he has raced for a Honda team. Throughout Grant’s four-year run in the AMA Supercross Lites class, he battled on a Honda, registering a total of three wins and eight podium finishes.
“Being back on a Honda is going to help out tremendously,” mentioned Grant. “Since my amateur years, I have always ridden a Honda, so I’m excited to be back on one!”
Grant enters his third season in the premier AMA Supercross class and his seventh year as a pro rider. Since his AMA Supercross debut in 2005, Grant has three top-five overall finishes, and a career total of five wins and nine additional podium finishes. During Grant’s rookie year in the premier AMA Supercross class, an opening race win opened the door to one of his strongest supercross class seasons, finishing fourth overall.
“I think it’s going be tough with all the new guys out there, but it will make for some exciting races for sure,” exclaimed Grant. “So, I just need to be on top of my game every weekend.”

Ottawa-based Chironex Motorsports, which offers a line of scooters from 50 to 250 cc, has struck a deal with German motorcycle manufacturer Sachs to import the funky MadAss 125.
The MadAss kind of blurs the line between motorcycle, scooter and moped, but it looks super-cool.
Unique styling features include a large-diameter tube frame that also serves as a five-litre fuel tank, a banana style swingarm, under-seat exhaust, tandem projector headlights and, well, stripped-bike nakedness.
It’s powered by an air-cooled 120 cc four-stroke single with a four-speed semi-auto gearbox that shifts via a traditional foot lever.
Wheels are 16-inch and claimed dry weight is a paltry 95 kg (209 lb). It should be available by springtime, pricing has not yet been released.
PICKERINGTON, Ohio – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has dropped his effort to pass a massive omnibus public lands bill that would have restricted responsible off-highway vehicle (OHV) access to thousands of acres of public land, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports.
Reid introduced the legislation, S. 303, the “America’s Great Outdoors Act of 2010,” on Friday, Dec. 17, as a substitute to unrelated legislation titled the “Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act of 2009.” Reid’s move was reminiscent of the controversial parliamentary tactic that anti-OHV forces used in 2009 to close 2.1 million acres of public land.
“We are cautiously optimistic that this latest effort to keep the American public from responsibly enjoying America’s public lands has failed,” said AMA Senior Vice President for Government Relations Ed Moreland. “AMA members played no small role in this provisional success, and we thank our subscribers who responded to AMA Action Alerts to oppose this pending legislation.
“However, we must remain vigilant because Reid has indicated a desire for a smaller version of S. 303 prior to adjournment,” said Moreland. “The current session can possibly run through Jan. 4, 2011.”
Moreland added that in addition to the recent AMA Action Alert on this issue, the AMA has issued letters and applied procedural pressure to combat Reid’s effort to restrict access to public lands. To read the latest alert, see http://capwiz.com/amacycle/callalert/index.tt?alertid=20980501.
Reid’s bill was a collection of more than 70 measures and more than 1,000 pages. Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.) was one of several senators who protested the legislation, saying it was too sweeping to consider prior to the end of the current session. In addition, key representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives, such as House Natural Resources Chairman-elect Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), voiced opposition to the measure.
“We need to protect public land for future generations, not from future generations, and that includes responsible OHV recreation access,” Moreland said. “In addition, legislation deserves a full and public debate on its merits, and parliamentary tricks and sleight-of-hand, such as what we saw in 2009 and what we’ve experienced here, do not allow that.”

The Tomahawk is a Viper V-10 based motorcycle, a 500 horsepower engine with four wheels beneath it. The engine breathes through twin throttle bodies mounted right up front (the two round things above the front tires are). While the Tomahawk has the same number of tires as a car, it keeps the motorcycle form factor otherwise. This is no sedan… Chrysler sold nine replicas through Neiman Marcus, for $555,000 each. The motorcycles cannot be driven on public roads. A spokesman told Reuters they were meant as rolling sculptures, presumably to avoid legal liability. They are driveable – just not (legally) on public roads.
Levi LaVallee jumped an incredible 361 feet while preparing for his Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. world record snowmobile distance jump in San Diego. Unfortunately, Levi was injured shortly thereafter and as a result, the December 31 event has been canceled. But as the 361-foot jump eclipsed the existing record by 60 feet, it will be submitted for world record certification. Levi expects to make a full recovery.
Pari
s Hilton, hotel-chain heiress and driver of hot-pink Bentley Continental GT’s, is entering the motorcycle racing business.
Paris Hilton has named her new MotoGP team after her party on Ibiza.
The world’s premier motorcycle race series, MotoGP, confirmed on its Web site Monday that Paris is fielding riders for the 2011 125cc World Championship season in conjunction with the Barcelona-based team By Queroseno Racing (BQR). Their joint effort is called SuperMartxé VIP by Paris Hilton — the name referring to an Ibiza-based dance-party series with which Hilton has been affiliated since 2009.
Paris’ entry into MotoGP will be feted on Saturday night at the Madrid dance club Fabrik, where BQR racers Sergio Gadea and Maverick Viñales will also be in attendance. Viñales, at 15 years old, won the Spanish national and European 125cc championships earlier this year.
Asked how the unlikely pairing of Paris and BQR came to be, Joan Xufre, a BQR company spokesman, responded in an e-mail that Hilton was approached by Riccard Garriga, a team partner, and Nano Barea, the founder of SuperMartxé, to gauge her interest in lending her image to the proposed team. “The prospect of being involved really excited her to the point that she became one of the team owners, in addition to lending her image,” Xufre said.
Xufre said that Paris is contractually obligated to appear at five sanctioned races during the 2011 season, but it has not been confirmed which ones.

Hey everyone,
Yesterday camera equipment was stolen out of my truck at Milestone Ranch motocross park. In the process I lost my camera body (Canon EOS-1DS Mark 2), lens (Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 ISM) and memory card (SanDisk Extreme 3 8GB. It’s a complete bummer and, as you can understand, it’s also part of my livelihood in working for MXA. If you know anything about this I’d greatly appreciate any information that you could provide. There is a reward in the form of gear and motocross swag if you have any information that leads to me finding my camera equipment. Please email me at johnbashermxa@yahoo.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have heard of anything.
Motocross is a sport full of passionate riders, and one of the many great things about it is that we’re a tight knit group of individuals. If my experience has taught me anything, it’s that I can’t trust my possessions at a motocross track. What I once thought was sacred ground is no more. Again, thank you for your help!
